Today's special An Artist Is Born birthday shoutout goes out in remembrance of PAUL WILLIAMS (1939). Williams was the original lead vocalist" and a founding member of Motown group THE TEMPTATIONS. His signature song with the group is "Don't Look Back," which reached #83 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He also sang prominent parts on notable tunes such as "I Can't Get Next To You (US - #1)," "Cloud Nine (US - #6)," and "Runaway Child, Running Wild." Williams quit the group in 1971 and began working on solo material. Unfortunately, Williams committed suicide in 1973. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 1989.
